Town hall plans under consultation

Residents in Southwark will be consulted on two proposals that will bring the Grade II-listed Walworth Town Hall back into use.

Following expressions of interest earlier this year, Southwark Council has narrowed it down to two main proposals – from fund manager Castle Forge Partnership and developer General – to find investors and help secure the future of the building.

Johnson Situ, cabinet member for growth, development and planning, said: "We believe these are two strong proposals that will help bring the town hall back into use and provide new and exciting community facilities.

"However, we would like to hear from local people and see what they think of the ideas on the table and I would encourage people to get involved in the consultation and have their say."

Residents can view the proposals and meet the bidders at a public presentation at the Art Academy, 155 Walworth Road on 12 December at 7pm, hosted by Southwark Council and the Walworth Society.
