A photographic exhibition commemorating the 70th anniversary of the arrival of Empire Windrush at 1948 will open this May at the Oxo Tower in Southwark.
The Windrush, an ageing merchant ship, brought 492 Jamaican nationals to Tilbury docks to help rebuild Britain after the Second World War.
The 60 photographs in Windrush: Portrait of a Generation, by award-winning social documentary photographer Jim Grover, portray the current lives and traditions of the first generation of Caribbean immigrants, who settled in south London.
Grover said: "It's been such a privilege to spend time hearing such inspiring stories within our local community. I feel it's so important to document and celebrate the lives and traditions of this remarkable generation."
Windrush: Portrait of a Generation runs from 23 May until 10 June 2018.
