The planting ceremony at the site was attended by Lendlease's project director for the Elephant and Castle-based development Rob Heasman; London's deputy mayor for environment and energy, Shirley Rodrigues; and Southwark Council's cabinet member for communities, safety and leisure, Barrie Hargrove.

Heasman said the project would play a "major role" in the developer's vision to create central London’s "new green heart".
