Southwark Council is seeking investors and developers to transform the Grade II-listed Walworth Town Hall in Elephant and Castle.
Spread over three buildings, 4,772sq m is available for incorporating arts and culture uses and retail to generate more footfall and income for the area.
Mark Williams, cabinet member for regeneration and new homes encouraged developers to invest in the hall: "The council is excited to present an outstanding investment opportunity to the market for a cultural or artistic use."
"The Walworth Town Hall complex is a historic gem, full of architectural detail, impressive spaces and rich facades which have played an important role in the areas history and now has the chance to bring more vibrancy and activity into the heart of the Walworth Road."
"The building suffered damaged by fire in 2013, with the adjacent Newington Library sustaining water damage from firefighting efforts.
The library re-opened in September as an art gallery, leased for two years by The Arts Academy, until longer-term plans are finalised.
Viewings are taking place on 29 and 30 January 2018, and developers have until 12 March to submit expressions of interest to the council.
